DESCRIPTION:more information at https://www.bikewalkmacon.com/playstreets \nBike Walk Macon and Artspace Macon are thrilled to join forces with Ingleside Village businesses and neighbors for a transformative weekend in December 2024. This initiative\, focused on enhancing traffic safety and improving our community’s quality of life\, will involve a Traffic Calming Project driven by local input. Planned features include various safety installations and a car-free Play Streets celebration on Sunday\, December 15\, 2024. We invite residents and partners like you to join us in this important initiative. Your input and participation are crucial to the success of this project. \nhow it works\nWith guidance from Bike Walk Macon\, Play Streets Macon participants legally close the road to through-traffic using authorized signage\, cones\, or barriers. Vehicle access is maintained for residents to be able to park on the road. Volunteer stewards\, often residents themselves\, ensure safety by standing at each street end and guiding vehicles as needed. \nwhat to do at play streets\nDuring Play Streets\, people participate in a variety of activities such as sidewalk chalk art\, bike riding\, roller skating\, hopscotch\, ball games\, and other creative games. Neighbors can organize a potluck or fire up the grill and community organizations often offer interactive workshops\, music\, and entertainment to enhance the joyful atmosphere and encourage social connections among neighbors. \n
